Sourced from the nationally protected and pristine high mountains of Tong Mu, the original home of all black teas, this LapSang Souchong is complex, with a cool kiss of pure pine fire and ripened with summer honey and berries. Hand roasted two times in traditional tea smoking houses, using only high heat pine wood rather than pine needles, this tea has a clean smokiness that lingers on the palate with no oily residue. Aged one year to mellow the smoke, this tea evokes evenings spent on plush leather sofas in a well-stocked library. So prized by the British, its cultivar was smuggled across border to India— this tea is truly a favorite of royalty.
